I recently had the pleasure of collaborating with REDFIN, a national real estate company, to write a blog about things to do in Savannah, Georgia. You can check out the full article HERE. The experience got me thinking about all the beautiful places in this historic city, especially those I haven’t had the chance to photograph yet. Savannah has so much to offer, and although I’m not a true local (I live just across the Talmadge Memorial Bridge in SC), I’m in Savannah often to photograph my amazing clients. I have a soft spot for this city – its charm, the Ghost Pirates (my husband plays goalie for one of their adult hockey leagues), and, of course, my favorite pizza place: Screamin’ Mimi’s on E Oglethorpe Ave!
Today, I want to share my top three outdoor locations in Savannah that are perfect for the types of sessions I specialize in: headshots, business branding, and lifestyle photos. These spots provide the perfect backdrop for these sessions, offering a blend of beautiful environments and unique settings.
1. Forsyth Park & Surroundings
Forsyth Park is one of Savannah’s most iconic locations, and it's easy to see why. This stunning 30-acre park in the historic district is a photographer’s dream with its lush green spaces, vibrant flowers, and historic fountains. The famous Forsyth Fountain at the north end is a standout feature, offering a gorgeous backdrop for any session. Whether I'm capturing graduation photos, professional headshots, or business branding images, Forsyth Park never disappoints. If you're planning to shoot here, I recommend visiting on weekdays to avoid crowds—major holidays tend to bring a lot of foot traffic.
2. River Street and adjacent alleys
River Street is one of Savannah’s most famous streets, and it’s renowned for its charm and history. The cobblestone streets, beautiful views of the Savannah River, and historic buildings make it an ideal spot for a wide variety of sessions. Whether you're looking for an urban backdrop or want to feature the river, this location has endless opportunities. I find it perfect for both business branding, editorial, and lifestyle photography. Similar to Forsyth Park, I recommend visiting on weekdays, especially to dodge the crowds during busy holiday seasons like St. Patrick’s Day. The last picture in the gallery below is a perfect example—my client had no idea someone was photobombing him until he saw the picture!
3. E Bay Street and nearby streets
E Bay Street and its surrounding areas are perfect for those looking for a unique, gritty vibe in their photos. With its blend of historic architecture, alleyways, and urban textures, this area provides a perfect backdrop for lifestyle, editorial, and modeling sessions. I love capturing the raw, authentic feel of this part of Savannah, which pairs perfectly with my photography style. Whether you're looking for an edgy, natural look for your session, E Bay Street offers some of the best hidden gems in the city.
Savannah is a photographer’s paradise, and I’m so fortunate to have these beautiful locations to share with my clients. Each spot has its own vibe and personality, making it the perfect backdrop for my specialized sessions: headshots, business branding, editorial, and lifestyle photos. Whether you're looking for an elegant park, a charming street by the river, or a gritty urban feel, Savannah has the perfect spot for your session. If you're planning a shoot in this amazing city, I’d love to help you find the best location!
